Poem 4/100: The Pause

Updated: Feb 13, 2023

Whirring into space

Thoughts fire

Like comets into

The Cosmos

Landing God knows where

Literally

(God knows these things)

They bubble up

Like the chest-burning

Carbonation of a room temp

LaCroix

Fizzing and foaming

Like a rabid, eye-glowing

Trash panda in the

Greasy back alley

Behind the burger joint

Then comes the inhale

The exhale

The inhale

The exhale

[Pause]

The oxygen

The carbon dioxide

The slow

And steady

Rhythm

Of

The breath

And the

Reassuring

Thump / Thump / Thump

Of

The Heart

Composing

Her symphony

Of

Life

Whirring halts

Bubbles burst

Foam disintegrates

And the quiet

Descends

With just

Enough

Time

To

Bring

It

All

Back Together

Just

Enough

Time

To

Bring

It

All

Back

Together

Just

Enough

Time

To

Bring

It

All

Back

[Pause]

Together
