Poem 38: First Day of School

Walking, biking, running, ride

Playground where we seek and hide

Cross the street, we stop and look

Lunch box hanging in my nook

Singing, whistles, laughter, yells

Creaky doors and tardy bells

Folders, pencils, books and pens

Notebooks, binders, odds and ends

Desks, projectors, ticking clocks

Paper, tissues, colored blocks

Teachers, students, parents too

Red and yellow, green and blue

Apples, oranges, carrots, grapes

All the colors, all the shapes

Reading stories, taking naps

Potty breaks and worldly maps

Hopscotch, recess, rhythm, rhyme

All day long it’s learning time
